Low-cost airline Norwegian today became the first airline to offer live TV on board European flights. Passengers using Norwegian’s free inflight WiFi can now watch Bloomberg Television and Norway’s TV 2 News live on the airline’s fleet of 87 WiFi equipped aircraft.
Norwegian, Gatwick’s third largest airline by passenger numbers, has flown Gatwick Airport’s 40 millionth passenger on its brand new flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico. In light of the airport’s significant milestone, the lucky passenger has received two return tickets on Norwegian’s inaugural flight to Boston next May and £100 worth of Norwegian Reward CashPoints to celebrate.

Norwegian, the world’s fastest-growing airline, won two prestigious Passenger Choice Awards at the annual APEX Awards Ceremony last night during the APEX EXPO in Portland, Oregon. The airline won the categories Best in Region: Europe and Best In-flight Publication, for N by Norwegian Magazine. It was the second year in a row Norwegian was named Best in Region: Europe by passengers.

The jury praises Norwegian’s ability to offer its passengers an innovative quality product and new routes at low fares. This is the second year running that Norwegian is awarded this international title by AirlineRatings.com.
Norwegian reports a traffic growth of 21 percent in November. The company carried more than 1.7 million passengers this month. The load factor was 79 percent, up 2.8 percentage points from the same month previous year.
Norwegian’s passenger growth continued in October. The company carried more than 2.2 million passengers this month, an increase of 15 percent compared to the same month previous year. The load factor was 81.6 percent, up 2.3 percentage points.
Norwegian reports strong growth in all European markets with a capacity increase of 36 percent and a load factor of 85 percent in its third quarter results. The pre-tax result (EBT) was 505 MNOK, compared to 604 MNOK the same quarter previous year. The costs associated with wet-leasing replacement aircraft and a weak Norwegian Krone (NOK) significantly affected the figures.
Norwegian scooped three prizes at the prestigious Passenger Choice Awards 2014 in California last night. It won the categories Best in Region: Europe and Best in Inflight Connectivity & Communications. It also won an Avion Award in the category Best Single Achievement in Passenger Experience for its moving map on the 787 Dreamliners.
Norwegian continues to expand its long-haul network with new routes and more departures on existing connections. A non-stop service will launch between London Gatwick and Orlando and between Copenhagen and Orlando. In addition, there will be more weekly departures between London Gatwick and New York (JFK), London Gatwick and Los Angeles (LAX), Oslo and LAX, as well as Stockholm and San Francisco.
Norwegian carried more than 2.3 million passengers in August 2014, an increase of 19 percent compared to the same month previous year. The load factor was 83.6 percent, up 4.4 percentage points.
